Company founder Ernie Harper came to measure up our loft in the late 1990s and we knew Alvaston was the firm for us when we were ready.
In 2003, a month after the birth of our third baby, son Jamie and his team arrived ready to transform our house.
Even though we were having our entire roof replaced and rebuilt, never mind a loft extension including master bedroom, offset en suite and storage space, all requests to keep dust to a minimum were more than met and the team did a brilliant job from start to finish, arriving on site before 7.30am every day and always tidying up after themselves.
Our fireman neighbour said he had never seen such a good looking staircase when it arrived on our front lawn ready to be installed.
The rebuild was worth every penny and has given us so much space for our whole family to grow up.
The reclaimed slate roof is so much more sympathetic to our area than the concrete tiles so many people (and new housebuilders!) choose.
A year later, my wife’s sister had an even bigger loft conversion including two bedrooms and a bathroom. Again, no problems whatsoever.
Full marks to Jamie for recommending black fascia trims to the roof instead of conventional white – so much smarter!
Bizarrely, earlier this year, one of the fascia trims came undone at the roof apex after seriously high winds.
Jamie’s team said they had never seen such a problem before, but it was no problem at all.
A) they guaranteed it still would not rain in, and it didn’t.
B) they came to fix it in 20 minutes one day when they were next in our area – and at no charge.
How’s that for service after 12 years?
